I need to update you about Roanoke Author Invasion 2020. Due to yesterday’s state of emergency issued by Governor Northam regarding large gatherings at risk of the COVID-19 pandemic, and concern for our authors’ and attendees’ health and safety, we see no other option but to cancel RAI.
I am beyond devastated, and so sorry to do this, but we cannot in good conscience ask you all to not only travel under these wary conditions, especially if things worsen. This is not a decision we take lightly, and I truly hope you all understand our concerns. I’d hoped to wait a few more days, but our local schools are being warned about shutting down for 2 weeks, hospital is reigning in visitors, etc, and we didn’t see much other choice.
Roanoke Author Invasion 2020 will NOT take place. The hotel is aware of the decision – PLEASE call them to cancel your hotel room so you are not charged, as well as any other travel plans you made in order to be with us. Tobi, Ethan, our volunteers and I are so sorry not to see you all this year. Wishing you and your loved ones happiness and health as we get through this together.
All my love,
